Abstract

Introduction : Labor pain and the length of time the opening of the birth canal in primigravida women was one of the most complex problems that occur at the end of pregnancy which ends in surgery, especially in primigravid pregnant women. The purpose of postpartum care itself was one of reducing labor pain, and helping to pass the length of time the birth canal was opened, as well as providing calm and comfort to the mother. Efforts made to reduced labor pain and wait for the long opening of the birth canal (kala I) in the active phase itself still prioritize pharmacological (epidural) methods.

Method : This study used a quasi-experimental design with case control. The population in this study were all mothers who gave birth at the Nining Lubuk Pakam Clinic. Sampling was carried out by accidental sampling, with a sample size of 25 0 people. The data analysis used was a statistical test with a significant level of 95%.Result : The results of the study found that there was an effect of Slow Stroke Back Massage on Reducing Labor Pain, Duration of the first stage of labor (opening of the birth canal) and the amount of postpartum hemorrhage (p value 0.022; 0.028; 0.09).Conclusion : This study found the effect of Slow Stroke Back Massage on Reducing Pain in Labor, Length of Stage I Labor (Opening of the Birth Canal) and the amount of postpartum hemorrhage. This research will develop non-pharmacological methods to treat labor pain, bypass the length of time the birth canal is opened and monitor the amount of postpartum hemorrhage.
