Abstract

An elderly person is considered to be over 60 years old and is at high risk of developing diseases due to reduced general activity and declining physical condition. Uric acid and cholesterol level checks are highly recommended to prevent the spread of disease. Laboratory tests are necessary to confirm a diagnosis and can be used to prevent various diseases in the elderly. Uric acid is a crystalline acid produced by the breakdown of purines. Purines are part of the nucleic acids found in the cell nucleus. Elevated uric acid levels can have adverse effects on the body, such as joint pain and are often accompanied by pain. This is due to the accumulation of crystals in the blood. This disease is called gout. Along with high uric acid levels, elevated cholesterol levels can also result in high blood fat levels. The method used in this community service activity was a theory presentation and a live question-and-answer discussion via Radio Maria. The results of this community service activity showed a very enthusiastic community, who asked several questions related to laboratory tests related to uric acid and cholesterol levels in the elderly. By carrying out community service activities at Radio Maria, it is hoped that it can provide information regarding the importance of immediately checking the health of the elderly so that their health condition will be maintained.
